Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price ...
Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre's presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever.
My Review:
Rating: 5/5 stars.
Firstly, I'd like to thank Tandem Collective, Bloomsbury Publishing and Sarah J Mass for gifting me a copy of this book for an honest review.
I'm so happy that I decided to get back in fantasy reading because I absolutely loved this book. Immediately, I loved Mass' writing style. Her description and language all drew me in straight away. Feyre is a brilliant character and so well rounded. She is stubborn and independent but kind and full of love. Tamlin is a great character as well and the relationship building between the two is like going on a rollercoaster ride. Mass' world building is phenomenal because I could picture everything so clearly. When I say I couldn't put it down, I really mean it. I spent my whole day yesterday glued to this book and I'm really excited to receive the next book in the series. I kept screaming at the book because I knew the answer to the riddle straight away and it took Feyre way too long to figure it out but I guess it would be a much shorter book if she hadn't been so clueless.
Every character in this book were all very realistic and complete in themselves. I have a feeling that Rhysand is going to be a rival to Tamlin for Feyre's affections. Right now I'm team Tamlin but I'm sure that will change once I read the rest of this series!
