Pillow Thoughts is a collection of poetry and prose about heartbreak, love, and raw emotions. It is divided into sections to read when you feel you need them most.
My Review:
Rating: 5/5 stars.
"But you cannot grow if you are bitter." I am so happy that I came across this book in Waterstones because I would never have bought it otherwise. This is more than just a poetry anthology because it taught me things that I didn't know before, about myself. The quote above hit me like a tone of bricks. I stared at it for a minute or two, evaluating my life. Courtney is a brilliant writer and each chapter provides us with something new. I really liked the idea that its divided into sections so that you can read them when you feel you need them most. The chapter "If you need encouragement" could have really helped me when I was about 14/15 and I wish I had this book then. This book is a mixture of short and long form poetry with insightful quotes throughout and I really loved all forms equally. This has to be the best poetry anthology that I've ever read. It's also a nice length with 256 pages. I find most anthologies rather short but this was perfect. Courtney is clearing an amazing person and has a kind soul. Its great to have lgbt+ representatives like her. She also started as an indie author and has now been published by Andrew McMeel which is so inspiring for other indie authors out there. I'm really excited to read more of Courtney Peppernell's books and really recommend that you do too! Amy x
